I've got a 3TB WD Red drive in the post which I was intending to use in my Icy Box IB-390StUS-B enclosure, however I've just read on a spec sheet that it will only support a 2Tb drive. Is this true? If so I need to re-think my plans, as I was intending to use the single WD Red in the enclosure for the time being as I've run out of backup space, and then later get a second 3TB Red and a NAS...
Any ideas? Is there a 3TB compatible enclosure that's cheap?

Oh well, it doesn't work, only shows as 750Gb. I've now ordered another 3Tb Red and a Synology DS213 AIR NAS unit to finish what I was intending to do anyway in the long run. Love the buy now, pay in 12 months option... :D

Now the WD Red is initialised to 750Mb, is there anything I need to do to prepare for installation into the DS213? Will the NAS re-initialise to 3TB, or should I try and uninitialise it (if that's possible) myself before hand?

I reckon it will be fine. The NAS has its own file system, and needs to wipe the drive anyway.

Cool, thanks Rotor. This was supposed to be a cheap-ish storage expansion, and has turned into a £500.00 NAS extravaganza. Fab!! :D:D
