Hi all, looking to get myself a portable hdd for a while now. Looked at all the usb drives available but also stumbled across this enclosure and thought it looked good as I've got a spare hdd with no use.

Before i commit however i just wanted to clarify a few points
1. Can i use EITHER the eSATA or USB connections when i fancy?
2. Does the power come from a proper plug or USB?

If the two questions go the way i want i think i could be quit happy :)
Alternatively if anyone has any other suggestions for a fast conveniant drive then i'm open to suggestons ;)

cheers all (oh and the link: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-030-BT&tool=3

Just to add further misery, I have one of these and the power supply is quite hefty. Disappointingly so.

Hi

To add my pennies worth, I have this enclosure with the caddie and a 1TB drive.

The caddie fits in a 5.25in external optical drive space, you then just push in the enclosure into the caddie, the power comes from the caddie and its connects as a SATA drive so uts fast.

So as portable storage/backup for a desktop machine with a spare 5.25in drive its great.......

As the others say when used as an external drive you need an external power supply and you can connect as eSATA or USB.

I love mine as a backup solution as its fast and then I take the drive out the house.....
