My post wasn't meant to undermine yours in anyway. Your post was a convenient spring board to show life on the other side of the fence.

Apologies... The "ying to my yang" at the start, meant I looked at yours as a counter/balancing argument to mine (ying balancing yang and all that)
 
What does he do? How can the business still run efficiently without its staff?

They deal with B2B mobile phone contracts. So once the initial sale is done, that's it, the monthlies keep rolling in. I'm guessing he either had a lone sales guy still working remotely, or he was dealing with the odd enquiry himself.

I can think of worse ways to sit on my arse and learn to play the piano/eat kfc/whatever furloughed people do.

80% wage, but still have 100% bills. A lot of people couldn't afford to take a 20% pay cut and still live comfortably. All that time at home would usually mean spending more too, I know it does for me.
