Hi All,
along time ago i bought a new system with a
Pioneer DVR-216DBK 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter
which was fine but time has moved on and i now have a new MB, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7
a friend of mine helped me set this up, but says that i can't enable ACHI as my DVD drive does not support it. im not surprised it was an old drive and was very Cheap back then. i have a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA-II drive for my HDD
what im asking is how much is this hurting the performance on my system with using IDE?
i want to get an SSD at some point this year so its Kind of irrelevant but thought i'd ask anyway, im curious.
in any case it looks like i will need to replace my DVD drive. which one should i get,do all new DVD / BR drives now support ACHI?
thx
