hi guys i have two ide hard drives with important things but when i upgraded to sata motherboard i can't use these hard drive anymore. i tried ide to sata converters (those small chips which you attach on the hard disk) but they don't work. i don't know if they are faulty or incompatible. is there anything else that i could try? for example can i buy pci controller card which would allow me to connect my ide drives on sata motherboard?

you could buy a USB to IDE converter cable and plug the hard drives in via USB that always works for me.

If you just want access to the data then one of these:

or this:

Would do the job. If you want to boot from it then you need something like a Promise Fastrack PCI IDE controller card (don't know if you can buy them from somewhere else as OcUK don't sell them. I had 2 lying around from my old machine so I know they work).
