Idea for my next software?

Hi guys,

Shutdown Timer v2.5 will be releasing in a few days but I don't know any other programs that I can create that users would want, got any ideas to build up on my portfolio?

computer alarm clock which wakes PC from sleep and plays your favourite radio station!

do it, please! :)
 
Well the person needs to have wake on LAN enabled plus the correct hardware to do it. The radio part should be alright.

WOL is used for waking a PC from sleep via the ethernet port, thats different.

In suspend to ram mode you do not need to use WOL, i dont think

Oh right I never really knew about suspend to ram.
I'll muck about with it an see what I can get.
 
There is alarm clock sofrware out there which enables you to play mp3s etc and does resume from sleep. However it would be good to get one which allows Podcasts, Spotify, Radio stations etc integrated.

Could be a product you sell.

This is an idea i've be wanting to build for ages. If I had time I woud set up a SVN for it and we could both chip in. Alas, i am rammed with work right now.
 
Sure I'll have a look at it. And I wouldn't mind if you helped under your spare time. I'll try and get a SVN sorted

I would defo do it if I actually made any profit from my shutdown timer but I'm making 0 right now.

Android apps are doable. I'll have a look into that
 
If it was a collaborative android app i would be game, I did look into it once for all of 10mins but never went any further with it due to time constraints. But I think i will need to get some experience with it at some time over the next few months and that would be a good opportunity to do so.
 
I will sort out the central SVN - or does Google Code offer this for free?

Android app ideas:

1) Pub crawler app (fun app) - Gets current location, shake phone (accelerotmeter) pulls up nearest pub in phone. Users can leave notes on pub, online DB.
-future potential for us to sell advertising to pubs
-app would be free

How would you get a DB with the location of every pub in Briton? If you can then that sounds great! you could also integrate Twitter and Facebook and have it posting/tweeting your current pub for your mates to see :p

If you use google code you effectively open source your app so people are free to compile it an offer it too.. there in lies the problem with opensource. Nobody is going to pay for a service to cover the cost of the service behind it until you advertise on the phone.
