Ideal frames per second for ANY game?

“If so how come I can notice a difference between 60 fps and ~150 on my 60Hz monitor? /Confused”
Trick of the mind, or your seeing half frames not compete frames. Try a blind test.

I don't generally mind what frame rate I get even though I have fraps running all the time. As long as it's constant and not up and down from like 60 to 30 in a couple of seconds whilst you look at something nice, I don't mind.

If it's a console game, I want locked 30 frames per second with all the bells and whistles on. Games like Warhawk and Halo 3 are like. For PC gaming I'd like 60 and vync on, and would drop graphical detail to reach it. Most people normally want the other way around.

In TF2 you can get over 60fps even with 16xFSAA and 16xAF :p

On an 8800GT

Mine still dips on fort when looking out towards the bridge at 1920x1080, goes into the 40's now and then. (when action packed ofc)

Otherwise it's 60+ but around 50 feels fine too. :D

I don't know if that's an fps counter issue or something because mine does the same BUT at no point does it feel any slower!

I can even FRAPS video at 60fps!

Well i only detect 12.5 frames per second...........................erm sorry i had one eye closed ;)

any way while games are produced the way they are at the moment the higher the frame rate the better :)

60minumum as a general rule

i just won't bother playing any game at less than that, i'll just keep the game until i've got a new pc and play it then

when playing CS1, you could easily tell the difference between 72 fps and 100, but fps tends to need a lot higher fps because the whole screen pans when you turn

Even though monitors can usually only display around 60fps, I think in some games having a higher fps does make a difference, because it affects the physics calculations. I know this was the case in Quake 3, probably true to some extent of other games.
