Ideal Raid 0 Stripe size for SSDs?

What would you say is the best for performance?

I came across a few performance test graphs and a lot say 128k was the best,But would this cause issues in the long run?

Btw 2x OCZ Vertex 2LE 60GB SSds ;) And a RocketRaid 620 Raid controller.
 
depends what you are using them for ;)

When I did my Vertex 60gb drives in raid I think I went for 64k as it will be my main operating drive with lots of small files.

In general, the bigger the stripe, the faster larger files will transfer but the more wastage you will have and the more space they will take up.

As all things in life, it's a balance.

How did u find the 64k speeds with just windows? I plan on setting up raid 0 with agility 3, windows only and linking paths to another raid 0 setup (HDD) for i game installs cache and storage. .. I presume it's better using a smaller stripe with just windows I'll try 16k . . .
 
They are as fast as anything in windows in raid 0. Tbh I don;t think you would notice any real world difference whatever the stripe you use. A different stripe might be slightly faster but the main thing is your ssd in raid 0 tbh.

From memory getting 550mb read and 400 write speeds
 
What about stability? I've got my Agility3's in RAID0 and about a week ago one of the drives failed while in Windows. I've set it back to "normal" in the Intel Raid software but it's failed again recently.

Now i'm totally new to RAID and I know there is no way to recover RAID0 without a backup, i'm not fussed about that as a re-install won't take me long but what does worry me is I can't seem to find the route of the problem.

Is it just one of the side effects of RAID0? If so I think i'll skip as i'd rather have a stable setup than one that could go pop at any time.
 
I still have my pci promise raid controller from years ago and the raid went **** up at least once a month for the 2 years I persevered with it

my solution was to rebuild the raid then Ghost it back on

but in the end I just could no longer be bothered with the raid failing all the time

A lot more stable now with the Intel onboard controllers. In two years with 3 raid 0 arrays I haven't had one failure............yet.
 
Destroyed and recreated the array last night, reinstalled windows and applied all my usual tweaks after installing drivers.

Chucked on CS:S and then bang BSOD with the Intel Raid utility telling me that the drive had failed again... Looks like its on its way out but have no idea whats the best way to test it, have posted on OCZs forums in hope for a response before I attempt a RMA.

Awful timing as the 240GB is now out of stock :/
