Ideas to keep Cat out of xmass tree please

Hi all well i know its early but ive put my fake tree up but our new kitty likes to hide and climb in it hes 6 months old if this helps

any ideas to keep him out? i cant watch him 24/7 but airfeshener works he dont like it sprayed

Get rid of the wife and get a dog ?

But ive still left with 3 kids (well will have in a few weeks when no.3 is born)

Get a few car air fresheners, the type that hang off the rear view mirror, and then hang them up in the tree? (and make sure nobody tried to eat them!)

where u buy them? never seen that seen a spry that cats dont like but will a fake tree like it?

Haha, reminds me of when I was a child and our cat then was a kitten. She loved the tree. I couldn't stand it though because the tree needles used to hurt when I stood on them, let alone her little paws bless her (r.i.p)

A sack, a few bricks and a canal.


Put the cat in the sack and go to your local canal. Get on a barge and go a few miles down stream. Use the bricks to hold the sack down as you don't want it to blow off the deck. When you arrive a few miles down stream, get off and go see the cat trainer. Get him to train the cat to avoid the christmas tree. Job done.

How about just tying the tree up so it can't fall over and just let the kitten get on with having some fun.
Watching ours was seriously funny

O ive got him on vid it is funny but if i let him climb one thing he'll want to climb up other stuff where do u draw the line ?

Just hang a catnip infused toy at the bottom of the tree. It used to stop mine clambering up the tree, he used to get distracted by the catnip and forget that he was about to climb the tree.

Does your cat climb trees when he's out?

No hes a house cat but has hes own stuff to climb on and hide in

Putting tinsel stopped our cat.

She hates the stuff.

Let him out so he can climb things to hi hearts content, that should tire him out a bit too. It's way too cruel to keep a cat locked up inside the house.

cant yet hes not had he jabs and theres no way he can get back in once out am in a flat and have my front door and then aother door and 4 floors for him to climb about on and theres kids up top (18-21 chavs) so thats why hes in doors but its a large 3 bed hes got the run of the whole place (see my other post for more info)

Tryed artfully arranging the wires for the lights? Most cats seem pre-programmed to hate electrical wires and try and avoid them.

well thats what i thought untill i saw him climbing and poking hes out out right by them

Give your vet a call in the morning. A friend of mine did that last year, but I can't remember what he recommended, sorry.
