Identify this spider

Found this in my shed a while back:

It was pretty sizeable and moved extremely quickly! Any idea what type it is?

From the pattern it looks like it might be a Giant House Spider.

It was way too fast for me

There will be over 100 (maybe 1000) within 10 meters of you right now. Many of similar size.
Totally harmess though!

I searched high and low in my shed this morning thanks to this thread to make sure one wasn't lurking while I was on the treadmill, I don't care how harmless a house spider is when it's that size

Using the bottom of the hinge for scale it isn't huge, but he's a chunky little fellow.

actually don't - they catch and eat things like flies and mosquitos.

Well, it was certainly the biggest spider i have ever seen loose in the wild in this country.

I don't really count those ones with the tiny bodies and long spindly legs as being big.

But yeah, it was no tarantula.

I saw one of these in my shed. I jumped back when it moved. Stood on a rake which then sprung up and smacked me in the face causing me to step back again losing my footing and twisting my ankle.....They are far from harmless................
