Idiot Postman... What should i do?

It's the sender's place to claim when something doesn't arrive.

Hopefully a valuable item like that will have been sent by a trackable means...

This, she should be contacting the supplier and informing them that she has not recieved the goods, it is their place to sort it.

So he gave the gf a story and pleaded not to inform RM yet didn't offer to pay for it himself?

Hahaha, inform RM and inform the other half that she is stupid.

Already informed the latter ;)

I assume as the parcel value was over £100 i hope it was recorded delivery. Need to find this out.

Tell him to pay by friday or you'll report it.

Upon reporting it (meaning he hasn't paid) also state that he tried to bribe you with payment.

Put it this way, asking you to not report him because he could get fired, probably means that he's done this several times already.

I am now working from home tomorrow and i will be telling him he needs to cover the cost of parcel, as he has no idea of the cost of the parcel. I am in two minds to inflate the price to cover her petrol, etc for today’s journey :) - She is now on her way to the City(30 miles away) to pick up a new dress.

She is worried as it's such a small village we live in and we only have one postman - people know him really well etc and if it kicks off by reporting him. One positive we might get someone who delivers the post before 2pm.

This, really. Also this:

He will not lose his job by reporting him, unless he is on his last legs for other things.

Though that surprises me. A postman wouldn't get fired for putting a person's parcel in his bin? If I found a parcel of mine in the bin, I'd want the guy's liver. What sort of **** is he? If he ran out of cards, take the damn thing back to the office and post it again the next day, or bring it back the same day with spare cards just in case. As stated, it's not the money, it's the principle of the thing. It's a pathetic way to go about making light of a difficulty in your working day, and the little ******* needs teaching that pulling this kind of crap affects people. Making him or RM cover the cost of the parcel is a given, but no amount of compensation is going to make up for your wife's hassle over this.

Well, a few grand might. But it won't be the same.

I'm normally not one for much professionalism. I'm typing this when I'm supposed to be working. This, however, is a joke. I'd really not want to trust this sneaky little **** with any of my parcels again.

What kind of mickey mouse place only sends basic delivery, or perhaps recorded, every single royal mail special delivery i have signed for, most likely this was standard first class thats the only stuff i've had that was put into a bin one time at an old student address (amazon package i think).

Being a graduation standard dress maybe it was in an envelope or bag style envelope and not immediately obvious what it was, should have just bought one from a uni shop etc and tried it on weeks before, not waiting for it to come in mail.

And if anyone thinks this guy should lose his job, stfu, these guys have to walk and deliver in all weathers thousands of items a week, should have been sent special delivery due to value, and op should have checked with sender to confirm how sent before even posting thread imo.
