Idiot UK Driver' Angry About DVLA Clamping His 'Motor' Attacks It With Sledgehammer So They Can't Se

What a grade one bell end!

Could he not have just flogged the thing and paid his fine prior to all of this?

Instead, I hope he gets more costs and inconvenience from this although I VERY much doubt he's got the intelligence to appreciate this will most likely now happen!

You do realise VOSA don't prosecute those drivers. Do you still want those drivers getting away with this. I've never heard of VOSA stopping an uninsured driver..

Also, you do know VOSA don't make any distinction between a roadworthy and non road worthy car or do anything about it?

VOSA don't prosecute anybody any more, nor do they make any distinctions whatsoever......

The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) has closed. It’s been replaced by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). ;)

I don't really understand the mentality but they always seem to think it won't happen to them - even when they get notice of final warning :S

Anyone fancy a McLaren that does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 220MPH and only costs £255 a year to TAX? Buy a used P1 because a new one costs £480 for some reason. Maybe thats how long it takes to charge the battery. Shruggs

Than you have a Subaru Impreza which costs 500 quid a year to tax. :o :p

On the off topic discussion on whether or not to not to scrap tax and put it on fuel, surely we should.

People will still choose more efficient cars because mpg becomes more important (since fuel costs more). It's a way of aligning used fuel (environmental damage) to cost.
The only people who lose out would be those that do high mileage, but that's what we "want" to tax anyway. (ie those who use more fuel).

I burn a lot of fuel, for me to be taxed extra on fuel would cripple me, even if my car is £225 odd a year to tax. I am very happy then now allow direct debit for the VED payments.

I'm good with it the current method :D

They're either few and far between, or hopelessly expensive to buy, it seems.

Anyone fancy a Audi which does 0-60 in less than 5.6 seconds and only costs £145 to tax.
I'll stick with my bike - 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and costs £180 to tax and insure!!

Or mod them... a popular mod is bypassing diesel EGRs, because they actually can reduce economy and performance, as well as knackering your engine quicker... I don't care what tax bracket these things are in - I'd rather pay a couple hundred quid every year than a few thousand on a replacement car every few years!

All vehicle excise duty does is make older cars harder to sell (but they already exist so no saving there).

Fortunately, this is changing for new cars from 2017. :)

Ref the OP, the bloke is a moron, it's going him bloody ages to get the edge back on that axe.

Agree completely. Not sure why this hasn't been rolled out by now other than keeping a few jobs going at the DVLA?

Government is probably scared if might make it look like they don't take climate change as seriously as they claim.

I don't agree with having to pay car tax, as it isn't used for what it was intended for, but none the less if I want to drive my car I have to tax and insure it. What that bloke did was stupid beyond words, but you can't educate pork.

There is always some ***** somewhere who thinks he can do as he likes, and such as life this will never change.

Something else the government have announced they are changing. All RFL will be ringfenced for road spending. Whether this means road spend actually goes up or down I'm not sure....

I got a suspension for quoting the original story opening paragraph that ran in a global newspaper?

In 2015, The Huffington Post was nominated for the Responsible Media of the Year award at the British Muslim Awards.

With an award like that, i thought i would have been safe in quoting - obviously not.

Damn OcUK is tough ;)

Expect to see more speed bumps, bus stops that block the road and speed limit reductions.
