IE6 - BAN!

I think a few computers at my school might be running IE6. It's a little primary school and I want to change all the browsers to Firefox anyway. :)

There's one or two office computers running IE6 but no-one knows what the admin username and password is so I can't change them. :D:(

1) Fix your Intranet
2) Inform your boss that standard compliant browsers initiate a positive change within the organisational culture.

I don't support IE6 anymore. Its ok to say you gotta support it because people still use it. My motto is, its old, unsecure and its time to move on.

I usually detect the browser and if its IE6 I have a little note on the homepage saying that the site wasn't designed with IE6 in mind, and that they should seriously consider upgrading to the latest IE or FF.

What do you do to detect IE6? Some JS?

And why not include Opera in that recommendation? :p

I read this news story on the BBC the other day, it was the second most popular article on the site at that time and the petition had 4 signatures

If people wanna stick to IE6 then thats nothing to do with me! but if its in the public sector they should spend a fortune on a think tank to consider whether they should upgrade then do something about it by 2012 ;)

How do people live without tabbed browsing?
If you used keyboard shortcuts to cycle window focus, you'd probably be faster than people who fish around with the mouse to click on their tabs.

Not that I'm endorsing IE6! Even the newest IEs, to me, have a dodgy look and feel - enough to keep ignoring them on Windows.

Old new is old.

IE6 should burnt, then it's ashes should be burnt again.

It only has that huge share because some people (business mostly) don't want the hassle of installing a new browser with new functions then educating staff and dealing with compatibility problems when their hardware runs on steam power.
