Most people who got their PC's during Windows XP era. Typical people don't care for new versions of programs, they just want to update their facebook status.
There are times when I open a new tab in Opera or Firefox and try to remember the days before tabbed browsing. I find it hard to believe those kind of days actually existed.
I don't support IE6 anymore. Its ok to say you gotta support it because people still use it. My motto is, its old, unsecure and its time to move on.
I usually detect the browser and if its IE6 I have a little note on the homepage saying that the site wasn't designed with IE6 in mind, and that they should seriously consider upgrading to the latest IE or FF.

I read this news story on the BBC the other day, it was the second most popular article on the site at that time and the petition had 4 signatures
If people wanna stick to IE6 then thats nothing to do with me! but if its in the public sector they should spend a fortune on a think tank to consider whether they should upgrade then do something about it by 2012
IE6 should burnt, then it's ashes should be burnt again.
It only has that huge share because some people (business mostly) don't want the hassle of installing a new browser with new functions then educating staff and dealing with compatibility problems when their hardware runs on steam power.
