I would have no issues with Sky not giving you replacement hardware out of a warranty period if they were happy to hand over your connection credentials when asked.
Since they won't do that, and instead sort of force you into taking their (in the case of the post-Netgear pre-Q hardware) poor quality options, they should really be replacing them FOC.
Alas, I suspect if you push them on this matter, they would then simply be most likely to send you the cheapest option (a refurbed old router) than quite possibly the better option (a nice new Hub 3)?
It seems my drop in internet speed is now being blamed on my router. I was getting for as long as I can recall (downloading) 11-12mbps, and I'm now connecting on the router at only about 7mbps (and downloading 5-6mbps).
The BT engineer said his device said my socket should be capable of 10mbps so can't account for why the router is only willing to connect at 6-7mbps.
Given my router has ben flaky in the past week or so (refusing to even turn on and having wierd flashing shorting out lights once) the finger of blame is now the router.
So I'm going to try and borrow a spare one to see if that connects at a better speed therefore showing my router needs replacing.
The worrying thing is if I don't even get back to my 11-12mbps which I used to get, and instead my new "norm" is now 7-9mbps
