2. I never claimed to be impervious to marketing waffle and I'm not a hippy either - we all are consumers.

There comes a point however where plain common sense kicks in though. £200 for lycra is madness.

I tend to buy "mid range" lycra, castelli, nalini etc, as in my experience it lasts longer.

This is also my approach, as I've found that cheap stuff falls apart quickly and I'm not willing to pay the Assos/Rapha tax

Not with those Zipps on it, I think they are close to 2kg.

TBH what i have is already a case of way more hardware than ability, if i had more money to throw at it i'd probably get a proper mavic wheelset for the track bike, but apart from that i'm pretty happy with my current setup.
