If this is true..... (passport control/burkha thread)

As far as security at airports goes I have nothing to call on apart from my experiences when travelling. I don't even work in an airport :p
However, I have seen veiled women go through passport control and I don't recall them being brought to the side.

Oh my bad, i thought you worked as an air traffic controller....Maybe another member.

 Surely passport control asks them to remove their headwear? Or are you saying thay can waltz through security with a full-on mask??

i might dress in a veil and use my mums passport to see if i can get through, that would be soooo easy to sell to the daily mail if it worked :D

I tell thee now, I couldnt give a rats ass what religious beliefs someone had, if it compromised my familys saftey i'd rip the burkha off her head myself. These are OUR rules OUR laws, respect them or **** off

Cant believe how much of this religious NONSENSE is getting in the way of sheer common sense. Absolutely ridiculous.

BTW no i'm not religious, have no need to be, or wish to be. I can make my own mind up thanks :)

A spokeperson from Heathrow has just been on the radio saying that they only carry out visual facial checks on veiled women on a "random basis".

Utterly sickening.

Sure as hell wouldn't have happened while I was working at the TSA. Any facial coverings HAD to be removed. If they weren't allowed to for religious beliefs, they could request a private screening with at least one screener and one supervisor of the same gender as the passenger, where they were required to remove the facial garment. If they refused to remove the facial garment, they were refused entry into the controlled area of the airport.

Them's the rules. Don't like 'em? Don't fly.

Immigration control do not check people who leave the country, only those who enter it. By our own stupid guidelines and policies this guy slipped through in spectacular fashion!

Elrazur u have some issues to do with race i swear. How many friends do you post about race etc blah blah blah

It all ends up the same :o

What are you blabbering about (and why are you embarassed)?
This thread has nothing to do with race, that is until YOU bought it up.
Raz has begun a thread on a topic that is probably going to dominate the news today, and it's a topic that needs attention to resolve it.

The burkha is not a religious item it is a cultural one.

Would you be wearing your keyboard warrior helmet at the same time or would you consider that hypocritical?

I think you'll find that's exactly what he was trying to do...

Immigration control wouldn't, but airport security would (or should).

I remember i went through passport checks before wearing a cap. I got a clip round the ear and told to take the thing off. That was only covering my slap. Good job alround.

The way I see it there are three places where the traveller could/should be checked:

1. Check-in (airline staff).
2. Security scan (airport security staff).
3. Boarding gate (airline staff).

For a man to be able to walk through that lot while passing as a woman is just stunning to me.

Oddly enough I have found the check-in staff to be the most thorough. I guess it's because the airline gets fined it they let illegals travel.
