If Valve made an Operating System for gaming would you switch from Windows?

I can disconnect this PC from the internet reboot it and do stuff. Not the stuff tied to Steam though ...

That and many other reasons for me means a very big no.

A big yes from me. I will be getting a Steam box just after they come out then it's time to ditch windows as I have no need for it after.

Unless it is faster, more secure, runs all my programs, is better to use, and is cheaper than upgrading to the next version of Windows then no.

It depends entirely on how Valve can manoeuvre other companies to support it.

Of course Valve isnt a stupid company, they will do what they have done for the past decade, being patient and offering a better option (though unlikely in the beginning).

Eventually it will force Microsoft to actually do something other than copy Apple, perhaps we will actually have a worthwhile competition.

Who knows.

All the have to do is release Half-Life 3 exclusively to Valve OS only... Windows will go bankrupt in a day.

i dunno. i think most sensible adults are past caring now. sure i'll be all over it like a rash if it ever gets released as a windows game but i won't be jumping through any hoops to play it on another device. **** em. :p

Probably not. I've never really understood the community's fap fest over Valve and my track record with Linux is appalling.

I've been running Windows (and even Mac OS :o) for twenty or more years and when I've tried to dabble in the past I've not even been able to install distro's. Even running Live CD's just presents me with a very confusing new way of doing things. I'm afraid that OS is just too nerdy.

No.

I don't have a Valve account and no real interest in one. If developers made more mainstream games for both Windows and Linux however, I might be tempted to switch to a Linux distro.
