If you had £130 today what card would you buy

4890 if you have to buy today, and £130 is all you have.

Why not replace the cooler with the original and RMA it, then when you get the replacement you can sell it on.

I'v got the Powercolor 4890x1gb PCS 950/4200 smashing card, very quiet. But its £156 scrape the xtra £26 from some where, you'll not regret it.

Fit the oringal cooler back to it and RMA it to OCUK.

I sent them my dead XFX 8800 GTX that was a year and two months old and they sent me a new shiny GTX 260 :)

it seems that u made up ur mind already. Go for 260...but 4890 is a way faster card. Can be overclocked to 1 ghz where it puts a smackdown on 285

On a sidenote, is it now possible to force AA in games like bioshock or mass effect for example without having to rename the .exe with an ati card ?

Hardly way faster... most 4890s won't OC by more than 10-15% max, whereas most 260 will OC by 20-25%... which puts them on a fairly level footing give or take.

Another vote for the Palit 260 GTX, the cooler is superb, however it is noisey if the fan speed is turned up.

A garden variety 4890 is breathing down the neck of a GTX285 after some overclocking.

The best card for £130

HD4890 £127
GTX275 £150
GTX260 £120
HD4870 £107

The HD4890 has that lot beat out of sight IMO.
