sometimes you can get a second hand Herman miller for around your price point

I have the Sihoo M18, had it at least 3 years and is still as good as new. I didn't like the arm rests though so removed them.

If buying now, i would go all mesh.

You can get both of those chairs a lot cheaper buying direct from Sihoo.
 
I rejected buying this chair a bit ago because you could only get it direct from the maker in China. (They had their 'normal' chairs on Amazon, but not the 'sofa' chairs as they call them.

I spotted the other day that these are now on Amazon too. I think / hope that they might be the spiritual successor to the Kashmir - double stuffed cushions, suede-alike fabric.

Herman Miller, wouldn’t buy anything else. Ideally Aeron, you can often find them refurbished at hugely discounted prices.

I bought my Aeron (refurbished) in 2008 and it’s still as good as new.
 
Had a Noblechairs Hero Black/Gold for a couple of years now or so and mine at least is still pretty much as good as new. I do wish they'd gone for less adjustable armrests though as the amount of adjustment seems silly and just means they rattle a bit and prone to being knocked into silly configurations and probably just added to the price for something most people won't care for.

The height adjustment is fantastic. Where I will agree is that the button to adjust width is in a stupid place. If you accidentally lean against it, then you're both pressing it and pushing the arm, so it immediately adjusts to it's furthest out position. But because you're undoubtedly not fully pressing the button, it also makes a hellish racket as it grinds over the placement notches.
Just put that button on the outside, and everything is fine.
 
I don't like these "gaming" chairs, I have had two now and the same thing happened with both of them, first ram failure because the ram is situated quite a way in front of the centre of mavity and then the material splits. I will never buy a "gaming" chair again, not in the traditional (swivelling with a ram) sense anyway. I would buy a proper office chair but the prices are so high for a good one so I bought a big padded reclining "gaming" chair from Amazon (this one) when it was on offer for £99 but when it turned up it was too low for my desk. I had the remnants of a sheet of 18mm marine ply in the shed so removed the feet from the chair and fitted ply to the base to stiffen it up, then made up some wooden legs and fitted castors (left over from old chairs) to them so it was now at the right height for my desk. It is so comfortable and has excellent lumbar support. In reclined mode I even fell asleep watching a movie because it's just so comfy.
 
Mesh all the way. You have the comfort without the leather loosing it's padding over time. I wasn't sure how comfortable a full mesh chair would be for long gaming sessions and took a risk buying one online without being able to test it, but I'm very happy with my Sihoo M57. Has lumbar support, adjustable arm rests, tilts back etc.

Never spent the money on the likes of Secret labs but most gaming chairs are gimmicks in my experience.

The IKEA Markus is, in my opinion, a good and solid "starter" chair.

However, it doesn't last forever in my experience.

As another poster noted above, the seat padding (foam) loses its integrity (goes flat) very quickly.

My experience with my own IKEA Markus was that it served me well at first, but then the seat foam/padding went flat -- roughly after about 1.5 to 2 years. This resulted in a very uncomfortbale seating experience.

In my own case, I decided that a good, and reasonably affordable replacement to an IKEA Markus, was either a refurbished Steelcase or Herman Miller chair, dependent on preference. I chose a refurbished Steelcase Amia, and would confidently recommend that chair, so long as a good example can be obtained.

Outside that, nowadays, I'd also consider one of the many available brand-new mass-market Sihoo brand chairs, which, after a little bit of research, appear to be much better than I originally considered them to be.
