If You Had...

FD2's are beautiful! Though very exclusive.

I can only find a few for sale. Cheapest 1 being £13k and the highest being a supercharged 390BHP for £20k.

£20k is coming to M3 and VXR8 LS3 territory.

Think i would pick the Focus RS over one to. I am a traitor :(

isnt the 4 door Focus ST [mk2] regarded as superior to the three door model due to the central pillar and the increased chassis rigidity?
sure i read that somewhere.

the FD2 is zero compromise driver orientated and thats it. looks are subjective and whilst a DC5 has a superior power to weight ratio, I would put my money on an FD2 nailing it on track or on the roads.

arguably, the FD2 is not a great daily, especially for the UK as every owner i have spoken to has gone to great lengths to point out to me.

only upside of the FD2 as rybo says is exclusivity, and the fact that they manage to retain much of their resale value many years on.

there was a recent pistonheads article showing an 07 plate iirc listed for around 70-75% of its showroom value. just incredible.

as much as i think the FD2 is an epic, epic car.

for the money they command, i would buy an evoX

especially after speaking to gibbo at work today and hearing about the running costs of his.

OP, if you are looking at getting a 14k car. and running costs of a focus ST are being considered.

please please look at evox's,

They never did a 4 door ST which is a shame as IMHO it would look fantastic, like a mini Mondeo ST.

For those still struggling - the hatch (or tailgate on an estate) counts as a door.

2 door - generally coupe or convertible. You cannot enter the car from the boot so it's not a door
3 door - hatchback like the golf. You can get into the car through the boot, so it's a door
4 door - saloon. Same deal with the boot as 2 door. For matt, a 4 door golf is a bora!
5 door - estate or hatch

Generally....
Because the part where the rear door would be is acting as an extra brace between the roof and the floor of the shell.
Like I said.
Massive generalisation but not even the point i was making as in Motors you can make massive sweeping statements like the is the best FWD Drivers car period and they go unnoticed

The only point i'm ACTUALLY trying to make is that i'm not sure you can say that X is the best FWD "Drivers (Key word)" car. PERIOD (Key word).

What if I prefer my petrols to have mid range torque? And there fore much prefer the (More focused) R26R to be my ultimate drivers car of choice?
Does that make me less of a driving enthusiast??

I except that looks and trying to quantify what is a great drivers car don't and rightly shouldnt be spoken in the same sentence, but for the record, I like my fwd cars as hatches. In my eyes, a FWD hatch seems to make slightly more sense than a fwd coupe /saloon style car like the FD2.
Its seems to me to be like some sort of odd middle ground between a proper rwd sports car and everything else.
But obviously the above is MY opinion...

But what you said was that the civic wouldn't be stuff because its a 4 door, something you've never managed to back up and you're doing an impressive job of backtracking by saying "I was trying to make a point" lol

Well no, I was just pulling a irrelevant point out of mid air to make my own point. I.e What evidence is there that this is the best fwd drivers car.Period...
Admitedly i did that quite badly but then i realised i was in OCUK Motors where you have to explain everything you say in absolute detail even if you attempt to disuade people for getting caught up on it.

Clearly chassis rigidity isn't going to be noticable on the road outside of a 90's convertible supercar back when people didnt make huge efforts to avoid it ( Like with the convertible V10 R8 and extra strengthening bits)

LOL POINT I WAS NEVER SERIOUS ABOUT LOL......

I don't think it would actually. Because if it was, It would have a world record for doing so. Or at least a time up

Heres an interesting fact to point out why..
An NSX-R with Sport tyres and Upgraded suspension's fastest recorded time is one second slower than the Meganes.

Huh? Seriously, you're not fooling anyone - you said it wouldn't be very stiff because its a 4 door, there's no hidden meaning there.

It's not an interrogation for absolute detail - you said something mistakenly and tried to cover it up with daft excuses, you're going to get called out on it!

Just say you thought 4 doors were wibblier and got embarrassed when everyone said lol

No not really to be honest....
Like I said, Its obvious its never going to come into it on the road unless its a rwd car with a load of weight at the back in the axle, a massive engine in the front and poor design in the middle....
If what you're saying is true then I would never make the above point...
