...you took all of the shot out of a shotgun cartidge and packed it with animal blood and flesh, could you then shoot it at someone and make it appear to be a real shooting?

Would it hurt the shootee?

I thought of it as a way of faking a death in a script I'm working on and thought it was fairly original, so I won't actually be doing this! Besides, I lack the gun, the cartridge, the blood & guts and the motivation. :D

Probably not because the blood would just be a random splash allover, where as a real gun wound wound be like an explosion on the skin, with blood radiating out from around the wound.

Will it kill someone? Probably not.

Will it make a mess? Yes.

Will it look real? To a layman at a glance I suppose it would. Analysed by a CSI, I highly doubt it. There's no dead body for a start :p

Bear in mind, that the person receiving said fake gunshot would also probably sustain injuries from the particles that also leave the barrel.

You'd likely end up with just a few small splatters of blood on the person and very small amounts of it scattered in the immediate area - you'll only fit a small amount in the cartridge to begin tbh... and its not all going to fire at the person in some blob then impact on them - more likely it will be dispersed widely as soon as it comes out of the barrel.

Hmm, a big spray wouldn't be great.

What if the gun's muzzle was right next to the shootee to make sure the blood & gus didn't have time to spray? Could the contents wound him for real?

to be honest i am sure with the amount of energy that would normally be use to fire small little balls of lead shot was used on something like flesh it would pretty much disintigrate rather than go anywhere. If you was to use small amounts of bone then i would imagine that might do some damage but i dont think its ever then a realisic way to make someone look like they have been shot.

Blood flying out of a shotgun ?
How about no shots fired, add in shot sound effect, guy holds wound and removes hands to reveal ketchup.

No not my idea but its been used in enough old films.

I reckon it would all just spray out everywhere rather than go as a 'glob'. Maybe if you used a low power round, and put a packet around the blood (that would disintegrate on impact), then you might get a more centralised impact. Maybe for added realism you could have a needle as well to inject some anaesthetic or something so the person would collapse as well (but then you'd have to be more careful about hygiene - and maybe have to use a sample of their own blood).

edit: If it was at close range, maybe you could get some kind of rifle grenade that would go on the end of the barrel (but for the shotgun obviously), and then you could get a bigger packet of blood to make it more dramatic.

Someone did this on CSI. They made a bullet out of frozen pig flesh and shot it into someone and all the CSIs were like WTF where's the bullet.

A shotgun cartridge does not have a large capacity, the force that is released out of the barrel would probably dissipate the liquid so much, only pin pricks of red would show.

Best stick to CGI xD

Would it hurt the shootee? Depending on distance - yes - including possible serious injury
