ikariam web browser game

lol...join the club. You can change research at any time though and start another and it keeps what you have already researched.

Was wondering that... so if I'm 50% of the way through professional army and decide to switch. When I go back to professional army I start on 50% again?

Almost finished research into expansion so I can setup on another Island soon. People on my island are mining the resource at max capacity but not donating to the upgrades so its gonna be military research time soon for sure. Trade post has seen me alright so far for trading although the price of marble around here is a joke. lvl 5 town.

thats what I thought but upon testing just now to be sure it seems not. I was half way through professional army (military) and I switched to Seafaring. It transferred all research time/value over to the new class so I instantly had researched the first two Seafaring classes and am now at 27% on professional army once I switched back.

So you don't lose any research as such.

How much are you paying for marble? What about wine?

Level five here too.

I just bought 50 marble for 15 pieces each so 750 gold!!

am on level 4 at the moment.

I had someone pay me 5 gold per wood and sold them 500 wood. The guys on my island seem to be donating a lot to build up wood supplies, main statue thing, etc so it looks like a good island.

I've not been attacked yet but I'm starting to build up my defence. I've been concentrating on research and wood supplies to start with until my town hall was full and had to upgrade. Once you upgrade it seems you become a bigger target. Now that I have defence I have to watch money more and cut back on wood.

For now I'm trying to keep gold around 20 (with defence) before it was 60ish per hour. Selling wood is keeping my gold nice and high. I've found my wood has an opportunity cost of 2 gold per hour but I can sell it for 5 gold each so it makes sence to get wood then sell it if you can. Once my research is finished I'll build my traven and prossibly look at putting more workers in the wine field to sell the excess.

I'm having a bit of luck with trading now. Expensive business this marble one is though.

I've just built my tavern up to level 3 and have the full compliment of wine being served.

My population growth is 6.7 per hour and they are ecstatic :D

I made the mistake of not improving my tavern frequently. I didn't spot until last night that even without serving wine, a bigger tavern makes more people happy. But if you can manage to supply loads of wine, you can make a lot of people happy!

Interesting, didn't know that.

LMAO. Some guy attacked me with 116 Slingers and 3 Swordsmen, and all he got was 3 gold.

I am still having a lot of trouble with someone on my island constantly looting me. I have been playing for a day and been attacked 9 times and lost 200 wood when I was asleep despite upgrading my warehouse before bed.

If anyone with a decent army wants to help a fellow OCUK'er this guys town name is Jumbo on Delta 77:65.

I did try attacking him back but got nowhere, he had 22 slingers, 5 swordsmen and 3 phalanx as far as I could tell.

If you constantly under attack, there is little you can do other than to focus on improving your warehouse. It is not ideal but the only alternative is to start again and hope you get a better island.

Report him for bashing.

IV. Bashing
It is not allowed to attack any given city owned by a player over 6 times in a single 24 hours period.
Bashing is only allowed when your Alliance is at war with another Alliance
The War must be announced on the official Ikariam.org board, in the correct forum and must comply with the boards specific rules.

Also, is it better to be on a sulfur island?

Logic would dictate that because sulfur is used for your army, the stronger your army, the more easy it is to invade other islands and just plunder their resources.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight into this before I restart until I get onto a sulfur island. (Currently on a wine island)

Problem with starting on a Sulphur island is that you still need to tech up your buildings and army to get an overwhelming force, where Marble and Crystal are more useful until you get there. Pillaging also doesn't guarantee resources, especially of the goods that you'd hope you get :)

Being on a wine island isn't so bad. There's a constant if not overwhelming demand for it.

I'm currently researching expansion but there's still six hours to go! At least I've managed to get my population growth up to 5.98. :)

I'm on Epsilon, 55.81 Esteldin and 55.82 Ost Forod

Started with Sulphar Island and expanded to have town on a marble island now too.

Just started on Delta, "Neo Corcaigh" 27x 74y

I reckon since so much of use are on Delta and Marble is so wacky we should secure as much marble as possible.

I don't think being on a sulphur island is great at the start at least. You need too much marble and crystal to get going and if the server is new, others don't need crystal yet either!

I think this is going to be very like Travian. Alas I can see me having to force myself off this game as Travian was getting in the way of life by the time I quit.
