Does anyone know if Ikea will accept a return of an Ikea Markus with no receipt? Had mine for something like 4 years now and the lumbar support broke a while ago and I've thrown it away.

Sat on hold on the phone for 20 mins and gave up and posted here :p

That's kind of what I'm worried about. It is an ikea own product after all so would hopefully be ok, but if they won't do anything without the receipt then it's going to be a wasted trip (ikea isn't close).

FYI:

12. Faulty items, under guarantee
IKEA offers a generous guarantee policy. Guarantees can be found in the back of the catalogue or by clicking here. If you do notice a problem with any product within the first year of purchase or within the full guarantee period, please return the item to store or email pictures and a description of the fault. Please include proof of the original purchase from IKEA.

A bank statement is classed as proof of purchase so you shouldn't need a receipt.

With faulty goods, you simply need to prove purchase. This could be the receipt, but any other legitimate record - such as a bank statement - should be fine.

However, if you've no legal right but are simply utilising a store's return policy, then you'll need a receipt if that's what the policy says.

I took one that was 7ish year old back last year. Pressurised cylinder had failed and just sunk to the floor. Had the original receipt and the price had risen from the £100 to £125, so they gave me a £125 gift card to spend.

Wandered downstairs and grabbed one and was in and out in 30 minutes.
