Ikea

Argh ... I hate that when I go there to get something ... you think that you'll nip in grab what you want and leave, (and I've been to my local one enough to know my way around and where what I want will likely be), and you get stuck behind families treating the place like a day out / adventure playground ... GET OUT THE WAY :mad::mad:

Its designed so that you have to pass EVERYTHING more or less to get out. So annoying when you forget something and have to go all the way round again.

Most of my stuff is from Ikea. I think the entire office and bedroom is clad in Ikea stuff. Even the sofa was a flat pack as we couldn't get the 3 seater leather one through the door :(

I did my Ikea shop October 2006 - I spent about a grand all in, and furnished our lounge/diner and main bedroom. We spent that night building everything, not giving up until we had everything fully built up. It's holding up pretty well too.

OT, but I didn't know you lived in Cardiff! I would have said hello when I was there.

I used to love IKEA in the bay, I spent hours and hundreds of pounds there. Sigh.

I haven't been often enough for it to get annoying, or to impulse buy. But I'm reogranising my room today and have I visited the Ikea website. I've found £500 worth of furniture I want now. :D

I'm just about to venture to the Wembley Ikea myself, it opens at 11 and takes about half an hour to drive there to just going to leave in a minute to try and make sure I beat the worst of the crowds!

The stuff they do is usually good for the price, it's just the whole having to go to Ikea experience that I hate.

Now I only bought the things I need up until today where I went to Ikea and managed to spend best part of £500 buying tables/chairs/rugs/dvd stands. I guess everyone does that when they go there? :o

Table, chairs and DVD stands (well bookcases for me) are essentials. The rugs I can easily miss. £500 isn't over the top for so much stuff. I'm just trying to let go of the purse strings long enough to spend 450 on a coffee table, and that amount of money on one thing does scare me. The important thing about a trip to Ikea is leaving enough time to go for meatballs.

My flat has a large quantity of ikea tat in it. Along with copius quantities of laminate flooring and hideous colour schemes. Gonna take me years to undo all the damage :( Meant I could put in a low offer on it tho!

Only been to ikea once (Cardiff as it happens) as my friends wanted some cupboards that the lakeside one never ever had in stock.

And I've had the "pleasure" of building quite a bit of furniture for them. Reminds me of the bad old MFI days...
