IL2 + Expansions - Active community??

Ive been wanting to get an online plane game for a while and am just about to purchase this with its expansions.

Before I do I just wanted to know if it has an active community still playing?

And how do you find online players for it?

Install hyper lobby, a list of servers appear down one side. Double click to join and you're straight in.

We'll have to get a game going when you get it.

Remember to get IL-2 FB/Aces and Pacific Fighters. (3 games)
 
Im going to have a look for it tonight in the shops, if not ill order it. Going for 14.99 at the moment online with all expansions.

Whats your user id on there and ill look out for you.

That is after ive learnt how to take off lol
 
There is also the PE-2 addon now which a lot of server run.

Hyperlobby also serves for co-op games which are *inifinitely* better than dogfight servers. (Online wars)
 
Sounds good. Couldnt find it in the shop and they wanted £35 if I ordered it so I ordered online for £14.99.

Its the collecters edition so it has the expansion games as well.

It doesn't have PE-2 addon.
 
version 4.05. It was a 'net only release, so can't buy from shops afaik.. and is somewhat difficult to come by..

4.04 (FB+ACE+PF) is still going strong, but don't be surprised if you get version mismatch on a number of servers, both if you are using 4.04 or 4.05. You can also get a 'switch' app to swap between them at the click of a button.

I wish you had said this before I bought the game. So what am I going to have to do to get it up and running?
 
Once you have found it, it really isn't difficult to deal with.. like I say, it seems about half the servers do have 4.05, and half don't, thus the need for a switch app.

It's another expansion that comes in the form of a patch file, google for il2 4.05.

And like all patches, because you are using FB+ACE+PF make sure you patch with the 'm' patches.. these are for merged installs, the ones without the m are for Pacific Fighters standalone installs.

Bloodline76, I have a couple of those games here that you are welcome to have as I never really got into them and they are just gathering dust on my shelf.
I have the Pacific Fighters, and IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgoten Battles. Im missing the manual for the forgotten battles one though.

Drop me an email to leakymeat-at-ntlworld.com if they are any good to you and I will post them out to you.

edit:doh, just spotted you have already sourced them.
