Why is that so important??. Is alcohol really that important??. Perhaps he doesnt like the taste or doesnt like the after effects of drinking.

So tell me why is it so important for someone to drink alcohol??

Its important cos he made this thread :o im curious as hell now...

I've got a friend that is REALLY arrogant about this.

We're at a party and it almost seems as if he thinks he's superiour to everyone else because he's not drinking. It really ****s me off to be honest, even though I used to be almost exactly the same :o

:ZefanEdit: Jesus I'll log back in to my account now.

Eh? Drinking makes everyone more open, talkative, loud, less uptight. Alcohol gives everyone a bit more confidence. I have no problems talking to anyone when I am sober at all - but alcohol is bloody great, to be more relaxed and talkative, plus it makes girls easier;), praise the lord!

I bloomin wish it gave me more confidence...I swear to god, im the only person who can drink a bottle of tequila and become MORE shy than before.

I was teetotal till i was 22, and I don't regret it - Although I only have like 2 units a week IF i drink.

Drinking is well and dandy, binge drinking is not - its dangerous and plain stupid.

Getting drunk is awesome  Friends and I have so many awesome memories and stories from times when we were drunk which would never have happened in a month of sober days :D

Alcohol rocks :)

Nope smoking some wacky baccy is so much more better, well for me it is. Cant say ive ever had a memorable experience from drinking alcohol, if anything it makes me feel like **** and miserable whereas smoking is fun because...i dont know i can relax more and joke around a lot more.

As ive always said alcohol sucks eggs and tastes like cows **** lol

I can't comment for Zip but the reasons I dont drink are-

1. I dont like the feeling of being tipsy or drunk. I like to be in complete control of myself and it just doesnt seem right being drunk.

2. I just dont like the taste of alcohol, Beer is one of the most disgusting things you can drink, same with wine. Alcopops go some way to covering the taste but they still taste like ****.

I know quite a few people who always insist on getting absolutly smashed when they go out or round someones house for a night. These people really annoy me as they spoil the fun for everyone else- tipsy and sober people - as we spend our time having to make nothing gets damaged and that they dont bump into people and get into fights.

Does that make me seem arrogant?

More or less how i feel about it, i used to drink but i hated it..only did it through peer pressure tbh and even then i didnt like it.

I really really dont get it with the british mentality that we must drink, 15 yrs ago i arrived here...young and naive from Canada to the ways of british culture and was shocked at the amount of friggin pubs you guys have here whereas in Canada/America they do like their drinks but they dont have the same sort of mentality that we have here....or at least i havent seen it myself. Literally one on every corner:p....not saying all drinkers are bad...that would be silly but majority of the drinkers i have seen are complete utter ****'s including my mates who drink whereas my smoking buddies are a lot more chilled and laidback.
Funny how alcohol isnt banned/illegal but yet marajuana is. As far as im concerned alcohol causes more deaths and accidents than say smoking a bit of the wacky baccy imho. Ive yet to go around and start smashing things to pieces whilst being high on marajuana...whereas it seems like alcohol makes you do things like that but isnt banned.....talk about getting the wrong substance deemed as illegal.

Drinking too much, throwing up and feeling terrible for 2 days is like an initiation process into the second half of your teenage years. That and having sex :p

The first time I threw up from Alcohol abuse I was attempting to chat up my friends cousins (sisters!) at his birthday party and doing pretty good as far as I can tell. I think me turning green kinda put them off...

If you think you're dancy and fun loving without booze, I recommend trying it with booze at least once!

Mate its not the drinking...Ive been out drinking tonight....There must be well over 300 bars and pubs within half a mile of my house here...EVERYONE drinks...and they drink a lot...

but its completely different to the UK...no fighting, no raping, no vandalism..just good fun...I have no idea whats wrong with the UK...

but girls can walk home, alone, at 4am, drunk off their face and be in no danger at all....ive seen one fight in the 2 years ive been here and that was a cab driver and a guy he hit...never seen a drunk fight..

and they drink more here than we do in the UK...easily...

I hardly drink, me and the missus may go out once a month with friends and have a drink but i usually have only 2-3 pints. If i go out with just my friends then i will drink more but thats very rare.

The main reasons are:

1) I either get flirty and happy or just find that i get angry and annoyed at the littlest things which turn into a big thing. Not what i call fun.

2) When i was 13 most of my friends where 15 so i was having a adrink with them, by the time i was 16 it was boring.

3) I dont like feeling bad for 2-3 days after while my bodt recovers.

4) When im out with the missus i like to be in control, you never know if you will run into trouble, especially round here.

When sober i can chat to and have a laugh with anyone from any background and any sex. I dont need drink to have fun.

A mate gets slaughtered constantly, even if we just go bowling and its really rather pathetic as you end up spending more time looking after him than having fun. My old boss used to have a drink after work to relax, something i cant understand myself, needing a drink to relax, but then once im away from work i dont let it bother me.

^ What he said.

Im not slagging drinkers, im slagging drinking! a lot of people are sensible with it, then again a lot arent.
Erm that sounds the wrong way round
Surely you are slagging drinkers who can't control themselves, not the drinking itself?

me too. but go into any town on a friday/saturday night and u will find a lot of them.
You are just assuming they are being dicks due to alcohol. For all you know they've only had a few pints and they are just dicks all the time, it's just you only see them out on a friday night.

I couldn't care less if you don't drink. I don't think any less of people who don't and I would still be friends with them as long as they are fun to be around. I like it and not because it turns me into an anti-social ***** (which it doesn't do anyway).

I was quite a serious drinker myself, one day I woke up and said it was the last night to drink. I'm a happy healty lad at 21 with 4 years free alcohol system. I feel more alive than before. Anybody facing people who tell you that your stupid or an idot for not drinking just ignore them. The drinkers are the one who wee it up walls or wash away lots of money.
