I'm down by 140 pounds.

It varies, some days I'll do it all in one go, other days I'll split it. I know that's probably not too helpful but I'll go into more detail.
On weekdays, I get to work an hour or so early and go for a walk. I've got a few set routes and I know roughly how long they are. Then at lunchtime, I'll go out again, normally for 45 minutes or so. Sometimes, if I wake up ahead of the alarm then I get to work early and do over five miles before I even go into the office!
At weekends, I normally do it all in one go on a Saturday morning but then perhaps top it up with another couple of miles later in the day. On Sundays, I go with my wife to where she works and then I walk home - The route I do for this is almost exactly five miles. She finishes work at 16:00 and I walk back to meet her from work but I take a more direct route that's three miles or so.

So you can see that it really does vary. Today I did nearly five miles before work and another three miles at lunchtime.

I've talked about what I've done with quite a lot of people and a very common comment is "I don't have time to walk that much". My answer is simple, get up earlier. If you really want to do it, you'll make the time.

Some years ago I tried doing 1000 calories/day and the weight fell off me. However, I felt absolute rubbish and didn't sustain it for very long. I don't think a very low calorie diet is a good or sensible thing.

I also tried the very low carb thing. It was great and I lost weight but I got very bored on how restrictive it was.

Well it's getting better! I now normally manage to get three or four of the five-a-day into it but I still eat don't eat especially healthily. My diary is open to friends on MFP so if you use that, let me know your username and I'll add you.

I wouldn't have done this without it, it's as simple as that.

Wow, you really get out there don't you. Fair play mate!

Yeh I don't fancy keeping it to the really low carb stuff, going to just be a lot more careful about what I eat and get out each day with the dog etc.

Interesting about the Fitbit, I like the look of them but can't justify the cost at the moment. Which model do you use out of interest?

The FitBit One. It's small and I just throw it in a pocket every morning. If you shop around, you can get lucky, a while ago I spotted a couple of them in a local Maplin on the bargain shelf at £30 each. If I'd had the cash, I'd have bought them both to keep as spares.

I guess I'm now using this thread for updating my current situation.

I had a fasting blood test a week ago at my own request because I was interested to see what my cholesterol levels are. I've never had one of these before and my doctor was more than happy to do it.

I got the results yesterday and here they are.

They're good! In fact, from what my limited understanding of this sort of thing, they're really good :D

Oh, and this has happened as well....

67lb in 7 months is outstanding. Well done on that one. I'm not really overweight but would like to lose 10lb. Cant seem to do that!

Exactly what I was going to suggest too.

The added bonus is you can go further and see more of the countryside too. You'll soon see yourself doing 30+ miles with ease.

Oh and well done Feek.

Feek you're an inspiration, I've slacked a bit and put 5/7lb back on but that's coming off this month after reading this, thanks dude:cool:
