I'm going to make my own chips!

I'm sorry - but how thick the patties and how long do you cook them for? I have tried them twice but the bottom and top burn and the middle is raw spud :(

Not very thick about 5mm I suppose. You need a medium heat. Probably about 8 mins a side. The outside should be golden and the middle nicely soft.

Not very good on exact times as I do it by feel. But if you cook on to high a heat the middle is raw and the outside is black.

Good recipe for chips
Use Maris piper potatos
Cut into thick chips
Boil untill surface JUST going soft
Wipe dry,allow to cool
Fry untill JUST starting to go going brown
Drain and allow to cool
Fry again untill how you like 'em.
Eat with ketchup.

Top marks! This is the way to do it. :)

To properly cook chips you deep fat fry them. First you cook them at about 150ishc until they are half cooked, take them out and heat the oil up a bit until 170ish degrees. Fry them agin until they are as crispy as like them.

I had to look up the temperatures but I have always managed so far by guessing.

I used to make "punshed potatoes" in the oven

my way to do that:

1º - i washed the potatoes with the skin

2º - i put them in a oven pan and cover them with salt

3º - in the oven four one hour at 220ºC

4º - after they are cooked ,i separeted the potatoes from the dry salt and give in each one a punch:D

for the temper, I boil some pieces of garlic in a good amount of olive oil (until the garlic becomes a little brownish, but not much) and then put the olive oil on top of the potatoes - they taste great
