I'm guessing this is normal

the amount I drink isnt proportional to my enjoyment

I feel older just typing this post....

but I think the kids of today....a say thee.....the kids of today have it all wrong and seemingly enjoyment on a night out is something that comes after you've gotten smashed.

I don't need to get 'on it' to have an ace night. BUT I find I do much more fun things when I'm drinking than I would normally. And I'm probably more intersting. And I pick up more girls. And it's much more socially acceptable. And I don't care about how much of an idiot I look.

Drank an entire bottle of that a couple of weeks ago (corner shop was selling for 3 quid)

Pass out isn't the word.

Never again. And this is a Uni student saying that :(

Really? :o

It's tradition for us to have a bottle of that before we even leave the house :p. All about the Frosties.

I know someone like OP, the person in question cant handle his drink, he flips out goes crazy and the next day he is thinking how everyone else is having fun?

Well its pretty simple, i dont get hangovers more than just staying up really late and feeling **** in the mourning, i drink when im in the mood which gives me massive boost to how much i can drink and if i will be sick or not (when im not in the mood i can barely drink half of when i am without throwing up and not being able to drink anymore, even though im still sober)

Am I just too mature for my age, or do I have a point?

Its got nothing to do with being mature at ALL.

You simply don't like drinking, like some people do not like computers or playing games or reading or opera.

If someone doesnt like playing games, does that make them mature and justify that they can view those who play games as immature?

The last time I got smashed to the point of throwing up and passing out what when I was 18. Never saw the point after that and have kept control of how much I drink when out for the past 10 years as a result.

I've had tipsy night, fairly boozy night, and completely teetotal nights, and they have been far more influenced by what I was doing and who I was with rather than how much/little I drank.

It's not about having drinking yourself into oblivion, though that can be fun if in a large group of everyone doing that

It's about drinking a bit to relax, though not everyone needs to do that ... I've for instance started to drink far less or nothing at all on some nights and still have a very good time.
It also means that if I know I can do that, I can then drive to a venue that is outside public transport links

when i go out i just drink too the limit which i can handle without waking up the next day with a sore head.

i still have fun and best of all i know i won't feel ill the next day , people who get drunk and feel ill the next day just cant control themselfs because why would someone want to feel ill the next day?

Go get battered, or don't. No big deal, and unless your mates are negatively affecting anyone else it's no big deal there either.

If you need to drink in order to have a good time, you're definitely doing something wrong, otherwise each to their own.

Don't think it's about being mature for your age, a few people I know (myself included) don't see anything fun about getting drunk. I've never been drunk, have no desire to, pointless IMO.

Enjoy a couple of pints or a bottle of vino as much as the next guy but never felt the need to get hammered.

I guess it's to do with the people you hang about with sometimes - never alow yourself to feel pressured into doing anything by anyone, even if you feel it makes you stand out.

Infact, the most fun I've had going out was when nobody was drinking - for some reason we'd just have more of a laugh.

Meh, I was the same, my mates all loved to get smashed when we were in our late teens, I was never fussed, still went out and had a great time. Always fun reminding people what they did the next morning :). Also meant I would usually be our designated driver and never paid for drinks. Bonus.
