I'm having a meltdown please help!

I think it's probably searching for something, finding a thread, responding to it and not realising that it's old and or defunct.

Or some posters just ignore normal forum etiquette and move across the spacetime morphed as a worm like creature.

The choice is yours.

Sounds good but how often do you test recovering those backups?

Sorry only just seen this. The backups on an hourly basis are automatically checked by the software. It is just set up as a simple mirror any way so no extraction or anything else needed.

Drop box has always worked perfectly for me to so I don't tend to worry about that working correctly.

when i go to hand in my cw at uni i tak ein 2 USB's one in a jacket pocket and one in my trousers. also Email it to my Gmail and Hotmail. Also its on dropbox ;)

I have everything on Dropbox. (Assignment wise)

Obviously have a file on my hardrive as well due to dropbox's mechanism.

I then back it up on occasion to an additional hard drive.

The only backup there is the occasional one to your hard drive. Remember if it corrupts, all the machines with a local dropbox copy, with propagate the corruption. Make sure the other backups are regular enough to recover from if need be.

Even with a backup you can get caught out as I discovered years ago with acronis true image, brilliant at drive images so I put my trust in it for backups and then discovered it had fowled up my email backup which was pop3 email in outlook back then. Ideally one would check the backup by restoring it somewhere else and seeing if you could open the restored files but space was a premium then as is time.

I truly believe that in the beginning of the internet, and forums in particular. some people just got off on the wrong start,

now they forever move across forums sideways like a crab, plopping out various random responses to threads from long ago,

they are indeed the Agent Smiths of forum life,

Anomalys

The moral of this story is keep a backup of your work otherwise you'll disappear off the face of the earth like the OP...

LMAO - The post caught my eye after returning to the open tab from an earlier search and I didn't notice the date. Lighten up it's only a forum, general discussion at that, not wikipedia or a formal letter. Regardless of the date the general sentiment and discussion is as relevant today as it was a few months ago.
