OK, you described the James Bulger murder, almost exactly. If the murder you described did indeed happen in Australia, it would be massive news over here as well. That's why you are mistaken that it even happened.
 
I think the terminology is getting a bit out of hand here, I think the real matter is the kid that was killed. I went to that school and the kid was found about a mile away from my house. The church they had that massive funeral in was about 20m away from where I work as well.

I think people should be focusing on the crime rather whether or not a standard term such as at her majesty's pleasure is accurate.
