I came home with a HD TV and a PS3 today! :D

The PS3 I got was 40Gb, DVD Remote, GT4, Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Pro Evo, and a HDMI cable. All for £349.99

I think I got a good deal!

Now to get playing! :D

Let's see... 3 games, DVD remote + upscaling capability encouraging movie viewing while hands rest, allowing for 4 or 5 hours sleep a night, 3 toilet breaks a day...

I'd expect his next post mid-June. See you then! :)

I rented some bluerays and they are ok but not the leap i was expecting from HD.

See, the thing is, compared to upscaled dvds on a 32-40" tele, there really isn't that much difference to get excited about, the big difference here is better connectivity over the old norm (scart) so pretty much all media looks/sounds better. It's not the actual media platform that was limiting the quality so much, more the rather dated cabling between devices, the introduction of HDMI makes a huge improvement on even standard definition DVDs when compared to Skart.

However, when you hook a blu-ray player up to a 50"+ display, oh how DVD begins to show its age, it just gets blown away by 1080p media.

Yeah i guess the 32" i on aint really the thing for hd, but how many people will have 50" screens, don't get me wrong you can see the difference but its not as good as i was expecting.

It also depends on how far away you are from the screen. If I sit 1ft from my TV I can tell the difference between Blu-ray and DVD. If I sit 10ft away no difference at all on a 32".

I can easily see the difference even at 720p, very sharp detailed pictures, vibrant colours.

Sin city is the best hd movie ive seen, the detail was amazing. The blood was so rich in colour, sweat and stubble, really adds to the movie.
