hey guys,

atm im getting my mito evo MOT'd and taxed for the year as well as sorting insurance.

its my first road bike but really?
MCE are the cheapest with £396.85 a year tpf&t but with a £975 compulsory

all the others are around £6-700

have you guys got any tips/tricks to get cheaper insurance?
i personally think its ridiculous pricing

how old are you? £975 excess is hilarious!!

cheaper insurance...lie.. lie and lie again:p

think I was only paying around £300 tpft around 1998 ish,h reg cagiva mito

wow that excess is crazy! im 20 and just got insured on a 675r for £420 fully comp (£500 excess) that was with MCE too was £540 on MCN compare but rang them up and got a better dealer could try ringing them? :)

how old are you and what are you riding?

I always used to ring up first if I fancied a bike before deciding on buying it,and get a quote ect

could reduce the miles your gonna do yearly, say 2k miles ect, tell them it will be chainedup inside a shed

ahh first bike I see. Could always invest in an alarm/ immobiliser (well do a quote with one) might bring it down a bit?

Meta def com T is a good insurance approved one will set you back around £200 but if it reduces your insurance by that its a no brainer really. :)

Tried bennetts? They have stupid fees if you alter or change bikes but their prices arnt bad,mce tend to be better though

I guess you have checked on GoCompare/Confused?

Problem is it's quite a sporty bike and a typical chavvy bike (don't get me wrong there, looks like a nice bike, just saying a lot of chavs tend to have sporty 2 strokes like this, crash them and make that type of bike insurance go up).

I think I was 20 or 21 when I first insured my Hornet 600 and it was only £200 for the year, cheaper than my CBF 125 lol (first year no claims + holding full licence made it go down nicely).

yep tried bennetts, and gocompare/confused

looks like im going to have to go for MCE and be bloody careful for a year to get that NCB!

They are light aluminium and they have a spring that flicks them up instantly, they don't stay down

Very easy for them to fall off the stand

couldn't have said it better myself.

I can see the appeal of sporty 125's but i built up my no claims on a cg125/cb350 then got onto a hornet when i had enough. :D

Unfortunately on something like a mito you're gonna get pretty screwed anyway.

Suppose I've just got to suck it up for a year until I get 1 year NCB and most probably get my full licence by then

I think thats quite cheap to be fair :D
My friend after he passed his test I am sure it was £700 or something like that, first bike was a zx6r but he was 30.

ye i dont think its bad, when i was 19 i paid 300 for my 2007 RS 125 then 2k on my 98 gsxr 600.

now im 25 i have a 2004 R1 and a 2004 RSV Factory and i pay £300 for the 2 :)

It's the 975 compulsory that puts me off, other than that I'm happy with the quote.

Can insurers remove compulsory?

When I passed my test the next day I bought a ZX7R, I rang the Insurance & the woman asked me how long had I passed my test, 23 hours ago was my reply. :p

Insurance was something like 128 quid a year, Finally a benefit to being old. :D
