im shocked at my insurance quotes!

It's the 975 compulsory that puts me off, other than that I'm happy with the quote.

Can insurers remove compulsory?

Yup. Ask them, the premium will go up though. Not sure about completely removed, but they can certainly take it down to £50-100. £50-300 is the reasonable area IMO. Also depends on what excess you can actually afford if you have to claim.

When I passed my test the next day I bought a ZX7R, I rang the Insurance & the woman asked me how long had I passed my test, 23 hours ago was my reply. :p

Insurance was something like 128 quid a year, Finally a benefit to being old. :D

Was gonna say, are you ancient or something!? That's a hell of a good price for a ZX7R. I am looking forward to being old and insuring stupidly quick bikes for nothing :p

bennetts let you reduce the excess and recalculate the quote online, but you will pay more so your not saving anything

I've got a quote from KGM using complete bike cover, tpf&t £352.38 with £250 excess.

I'm going to go for it I think, anyone used KGM before?

When I was 20/21 Bennets and Carol Nash were the best places to get insurance. I checked out a quote for me now (29) for a gsrx750 and being honest (no NCB) etc etc and it came out at £160...nearly fell off my chair concidering my 1.6 astra costs me £400 a year

Not heard of them, but you'll find they're a reseller/broker probably for someone you have heard of. Call them and ask who the policy will actually be with. They should tell you as all your docs will come from the main company anyway.,
