Not really, no. They have a scheme for giving students discount. If they don't take the appropriate measures when people phone up to order and claim that discount then they shouldn't be surprised if the scheme is abused.

Imagine, if you will, that it was Tesco who gave the discount; each time you do a weekly shop, they ask you at the checkout if you are a student, and if you say yes, they knock 15% off your shopping. They don't do any checks. Of course you are going to say yes; denying it simply exposes your hypocrisy.

If, instead of that, Tesco asked to see a valid I.D. - then you would say no, as would 99.9% of people.

Switch Apple with Tesco and weekly shop with iMac and it is still the same situation.

I'm not saying it is ethically correct, but everyone would do it if it was happening in Tesco. The people who seem to have an issue are those who

a) have already bought a Mac
b) aren't buying a Mac
c) want a discount!
 
Well I don't want them to pull the HE discount because you abused it. Just thinking about my fellow students.
 
No it's not ethically correct, but if the offer was there don't deny that you wouldn't take it, any sensible person would.

Stop making assumptions about me. The offer is only there if you are a student, just like theres offers if you are disabled, out of job, etc.

Im actually surprised OCUK allow this to discussed tbh, Since even jailbreaking threads aren't allowed anymore. In every single thread someone suggests this and I had to say something so sorry to the OP for threadjacking.

Of course they won't pull it.

They may (correctly) start requiring people to provide I.D. before ordering, but they certainly aren't going to cancel the entire H.E./F.E. discount program.
 
I hope you enjoy the imac. The 24" has a much nicer IPS panel compared to the 20" and is worth the extra for that alone.

If you were not trolling?

When somebody buys something they want the best price. If Apple gives them Higher Education discount without running checks then that's Apple's fault. Anyway Apple would rather have more Apple products out there and the education discount serves that purpose.
 
I'm making a point which is correct and everyone else seems to think its ok to defraud because its apple's fault somehow lol.
