Image quality Plus speed is reason enough to go 8800.

So I'm bored of all the threads dotted about saying its pointless anyone spending 500 quid on a gfx card ....

When "you cannot use DX 10 features"

Well just to put the record staright.Unless you have experienced gaming with one and have had the pleasure of the IQ and speed over GX2 costing only 120 less. Then I suggest you stop moaning and groaning saying its pointless and futile. And my games run fine enough already etc...

Like many others that have got rid of old cards. Myself INCLUDED. The GX2 that I had I thought ran all games the way I wanted, I was put wrong when I installed this card 8800GTX in my pc.

It is a milestone in GFX technology.

Thanks

Easyrider.

All I can say is DAMN RIGHT its a worth while upgrade. The IQ is simply amazing, blows anything by ATI or previous Nvidia so far out of the water it really must be seen.

I'm getting an 8800GTX now, because I want the luxury of playing Oblivion maxed out with HDR & AA, before I'm tired of the game. I've also put NWN2 aside until I get the 8800, as it's a bit choppy maxed out on my current rig.

I also want my new rig to stay 'high end' for a while yet. I feel an 8800GTX will really do my E6600 @3.2Ghz justice, and I can play my old favourites at 16xEverything at Christmas :)

So to get your fps from 90fps to 130fps is worth £500? No thanks, I'll wait for the price to come down before considering buying. I doubt you would notice the difference unless you play games at 1600X1200 or above.

Please read the OP thread.

fps from 90to130 at insane resolutions with 16xAA, 16xAF and incredible image quality (beats anything and everything on the market currently) and to make it taste even sweeter it also has DX10 support ready in time for Jan'07 how awesome is that..

I'll tell you how AWESOME that is....

ITS £500 WORTH OF AWESOME!!

To put it in even simpler terms if the GX2 is like a 3 hour session with your girlfriend/boyfriend/whatever in bed, then the 8800GTX is like 24 hours with the entire girls aloud band and several gallons of lube :P

Looking good to me.

And with better drivers we can only see improvement.

Do you have a link for that 05? Can't see it for looking.

Have a look at the ORB, the best G80 scores are on the 680i, not just SLi either. Seems to go like stink, I'll see how you get on, I may follow ;) Or look at the Abit IN9-32X-MAX

only fools and fanboys are saying that g80 is useless. g80 is the fastest gfx card on the planet today. and its far more useful than agiea physx cards were/are when they were released.

I would buy one. The IQ looks great ands its very powerful. But the IQ is compared to last gen, and we have no idea what R600 will look like.

BUT
1) It can't fold.
2) Within the last 2 months I bought a X1900XTX.
3) ATi's R600 offering will be able to fold and MAY smash G80 into little pieces, well it should do, ATi had 4 extra months to work on it.

If you have a GX2/X1900XT/7900GTX and you game at below 1600x1200 then its still in my view a waste of money.

I think its only FEAR/Oblivion that X1900s/7900s can't cope with at 6xAA and 16xAF, well why do you want to spend £100/200 to get 4xAA/4xAF more

I'm quite happy with my X1900XTX at 6xAA and 16xAF at 1600x1200. So ill keep my money thanks ;)

Yup, who cares about Dx10, you got the fastest DX9 card on the planet, single card that whoops 2x in SLi/Crossfire, will everyone bugger off about Dx10, as no ones bought the G80 for Dx10, about time everyone realised this. :D

Having had a x1900xtx BTW
