Linus?

I've just got it against a Matt white wall (standard cheap new build paint) with a bay window directly behind the viewing position. It's certainly clear enough to watch in bright daylight. I have a feeling it might get washed out if in direct sunlight though. Hopefully the ALR screen will sort that.
Just taken this pic.

I'll give it a few weeks and see it it's up to replacing the TV permanently. It's my first projector so getting used to the fan noise. I bought it for a cheap price so wouldn't lose much/any if I sold it on.
Is that one of the ALR screens tailored for ultra short throw projectors? Hadn't heard of ALR but some research shows it's a special type for this application.

I've been looking at one of these for a while, care to share where you bought it from?

The bay, french seller, didn't want to risk £700 customs fees

That's right. Microscopic wedges instead of a flat surface, so light from under is reflected to the horizontal plane/to the viewer. Any other light, either ceiling light or windows, is reflected away. 96% ambient light apparently reflected away. Better bloody do as well considering the cost.

Purchased a mobo and CPU (from here, obviously). Lockdown has been weird, no fuel money or eating out money so somehow ended up justifying an upgraded rig from that.

After struggling in last years heat and this year already looking to be warmer, invested in AC for the apartment. For the home office, kitchen and living room. Fortunately this apartment is provisioned with AC tubing and electrics already, so the install has very much been a "bolt on" job. I got a company to come and quote me for both supply and install, and they're just finishing up now with installing the big boi above on the balcony. I can hear them gassing it up as I type :)

Home office itself is a proper sweat box, it being the warmest room in the apartment plus with the PC in there, when gaming I turn into a hot sweaty mess, but no more! :D Truely excited to give this all a go. Last week was in the low 30s and while this week is cooler (bloody typical when AC is being installed) it will go back to low and mid 30s in the next 1-2 weeks.

And I didn't install it in my bedroom even though I could have, because its the coolest room in the apartment and I have a ceiling fan in there, it just isn't needed :) - so saved a few hundred euro there.

You know, it's entirely possible to do so....at any time :p :D

Yeah, of course :) My problem is, I really struggle to remember who characters are without visual clues/references. Even when watching GoT, the first time through I really struggled as they might talk about someone and I can't relate to who it was. The second time I watched through I enjoyed it so much more because I understood, more often, who they were talking about. It's the same with audio books. I really wanted to enjoy some Terry Pratchett audio books, but just couldn't keep up with them :(

I used to have that problem. It takes practice, then muscle memory starts to activate and you'll be alright. Read slow, take soak it in. And you'll love it :)

Probably overkill for the UK but with that little bit of heat we had recently I'm very jealous!

I really struggle with audiobooks. I feel I can't build the imagine in my head as well as I can when I actually read. Not sure if that makes sense but I feel I miss half of the book.

I've only tried one though and that was Blood Meridian.

Brilliant idea, would have been a lot of work and mess otherwise.
And probably 5x the cost to install, if not more

In the 2 bedrooms, living room and kitchen it had a small rectangular panel on the wall near the door to each room, remove said panel and you got all the gubbins behind there, bolt AC bracket on, hang AC unit, attach piping and electrics, et voila.
