That looks a really tidy paintjob!

Are you planning on some side/table lamps to compliment see your way about by?

Looks nice, but surely it's like the black hole of Calcutta, illumination wise? :) The wife's had the kitchen done in some sort of burnt orange, I suspect to make it so dark her burnt offerings go unnoticed ;)

My new generator arrived yesterday, but sadly only after being dropped off the couriers fork lift truck. "Do not fork from this end" is obviously too complex an instruction, and it's now back at Meccalte for a new alternator and control box....

The giveaway was the top box which left Meccalte secured with 4 rubber bolted bobbins to the alternator arrived here fully wrapped in bubble wrap and cling film where the couriers had tried to hide the damage. Plus CCTV showed it falling off the fork lift truck then disappearing back inside the warehouse for an attempt at hiding the dirty deed.

Got a new heat pump tumble dryer, amazed how quiet it is compared to the previous one.
How are you finding the drying speed? I have a mate who got one (off a recommendation from me as we are looking at them too) and he hates it, takes 3 hours to dry a small load. That LG is the one we are thinking of buying so would love to hear some feedback.

I've only done a load of bed sheets in it, was around half full and it took 2h20 I think. I knew it would be longer than our old condenser however I also know it's going to use much less energy, and be kinder to fabrics. The comparative quietness is an unexpected bonus.

Look for Dryers that use some form of sensi dry, so they stop once it's dry, if I do a small load it is done in less than an hour

I hadn't heard of heat pump dryers so Googled them. Drying times all seem to be compared to condenser dryers though. How do they compare to conventional outside vented dryers, time and cost to purchase wise? Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

I found a comparison of using different dryers

  • An example 9kg vented tumble dryer uses 5.34 kWh for a full load cycle and approx 636 kWh over a year (if you use your dryer around two times a week). This means that this vented tumble dryer costs £1.82 per cycle and £216 per year on average.
In April, it was £1.50 per cycle and in November 2021, it was just £1.07 per cycle.
  • An example 9kg condenser tumble dryer uses 5.2 kWh for a full load and approx 617 kWh annually. This means a cost of £1.77 per cycle and £209.78 annually – that's almost as much as a vented model.
In April, it was £1.46 per cycle, and in November, it was £1.04.
  • An example 9kg heat pump tumble dryer uses 2.16 kWh for a full load and 259 kWh per year. This means that you’ll be spending just 73p per cycle and £88.06 per year. Based on the April figures, this used to be 60p per cycle and 43p a cycle back in November.
you can see from the above that a heatpump dryer will cost a LOT less than other types, even if they run longer.
