Aren't Hive also disabling some older devices which they no longer support? I think I will stick to my manual button on a wall thermostat.

Hive is basically owned by British Gas. No more needs to be said.

Smart devices with a central server need some way to keep the lights on. The older devices that were discontinued were quite old.

Not as yet, they put the estimated tax on at time of purchase, with exchange rate and delivery came out to around £82 all in.
