I’ve got to figure out Heathrow airport parking myself for a week in February. Amazing how much they rip you off. My sister lives in Staines so with any luck I can park up at her house then just get a taxi to the airport, but need to figure out a backup plan.

Despite the cost, it is still the most convenient way for me. The other options are Just Park and then get a taxi, train, bus (National Express) or a taxi from home.

The ability to just park there 24/7 and a shuttle bus 24/7 between the car park and airport is a big plus. I don't have to worry about when i leave, when i land, don't have to concern about train delays or strike.

So I would need train + airport hotel.

I’ve stayed at the Sofitel at Heathrow a couple of times. It’s predictably expensive but it’s nice not having to drive/take a taxi at 4am.

However, it’s got this kind of future luxury 90s vibe going on. There was a TV in the bathroom (why???) that we couldn’t switch off and it was showing nothing but repeats of Michael Barrymore’s Strike It Lucky.

@chaparral that Reddit post made me laugh - so true. :D I was looking at one like that but went for the flat plate type to toast a Panini, so I use it more.

@Zenduri It was a bargain, nearly fell over when I saw how much the go for. I'm not sure how old this one is, a few years going by the patina. It's all complete and working, well chuffed!

I bought a Zassenhaus a while ago, another hand grinder of similar design, cost me £70!

Peugeot Coffee Grinder

About 5 years ago I was having lunch at the Bluebird in Chelsea (proper posh innit) and my colleague had a habit of checking what brand the salt & pepper mills were at every restaurant we went to, and this was the first time I'd seen him discover that they were Peugeot mills. He told me the significance of this so I tried them out, and got my wife to buy me a set for Christmas.

There aren't many products left in the world which have that "will last forever" feeling but these most certainly do.
