Pretty sure its just running joke for not being on the same team, whether its Milwaukee, Makita or DeWalt...its not to be taken seriously.

sign of a limited vocabulary, but, ironic emoji use is a thing
whenever I see makita stuff - always think of Black dog by zeppelin, has a reverent lyric which sound like Oh Makita

For what it's worth, most of my tools are DeWalt and are very good but I kinda wish I'd gone Makita. If I'd have gone Makita I'd probably want DeWalt.
 
Had the porch and garage bricked up so final step was to buy door and windows:

We then realised the original doorbell inside the porch is hidden by new door despite leaving it unlocked for now. I missed a big Christmas present arriving early as the postie didn't get to actually ring it. So got a new doorbell as the old one is clearly designed for old deaf people with a 30 second siren.


Unfortunately we bought one with "16 chimes" for a bit of choice... It has 2 chimes and 14 musical pieces, 3 of which are Christmas songs. Nonsense!

This was a need-it-today solution after we missed a package which ruined Christmas :P

It's not even screwed on, I've used the double sided tape so I can make it disappear later.

So, my 6900 XT decided to misbehave and had to send it back to the store so they could check it out and see if they considering it faulty too (when playing a game sometimes it just make the PC totally shut down and every other component have already been swapped, part from the GPU, there is a thread in the Upgrade Advice section where I got some excellent help trouble shooting it all !). Anyway, with this mess I took the opportunity to purchase another GPU, which is going into my secondary PC later when the 6900 XT been sorted out. But for now it residing in my main PC, a Zotac RTX 4070 Ti Trinity OC, so later I can for the first time check our ray tracing as well, to see what all the fuss is about ! Can't say I was to pleased with how they sent the GPU though, but at least it was slightly better then the 6900 XT, which arrived wrapped in just some brown paper and not even in a box (part from the actually box that is). Pictures in the spoiler !

So, this was how I received my 5900 XT some years ago.

And this is slightly better then that, but still, wouldn't have minded if it been some padding around the GPU box and not had it slide around inside the box.

With the GPU mounted and running in my main rig, later it will move down to my secondary which is partly shown below. Wouldn't have minded if the fan had lightning though, considering how I have it seated in the PC (same as it will be in the secondary PC too). It will be replacing the 1080Ti that sits there for now.

Don't worry, I have tons of tools in need of a home so these will definitely get used. In fact I filled two of them tonight when I took them to the garage, one with the new router and bits and one with a couple of electric sanders. When I said I'd use them for 'small bits and bobs' I meant smaller tools and accessories that don't fit in the case the tool lives in. For example I have a dowel jig, pocket hole jig, hinge jig and cabinet handle jig that I'd like to keep with my drill but won't all fit in one case.

The reason my DeWalt boxes aren't full at the moment is because most of my tools are in a basket in the house as I am renovating and this is the easiest place to hold them, as the toolboxes take up a lot of space. Once I am not using my tools day to day all my tool boxes will be filled. I imagine I'll buy a handful more tools before I'm finished too.

I realise the way I worded my first comment made it seem like I was just buying something cheap for the sake of it, but that isn't the case.

They are still available on the website I purchased from so it's not like I helped 'clear them out' and at least I'm not the guy on Facebook marketplace that took a pic of 5 of them in the exact same packaging mine arrived in but is asking £12 each.

Yea, I thought it might be that too. I don't come on here as much anymore (never spent a ton of time on here anyway) now that I have a 5 month old so I miss a lot of the running jokes and 'personalities'.

All I know is never to post a pic of my corner sofa.

I missed all the drama I caused despite posting in this thread shortly after :cry:. It was because it was Makita and I'm team red --- however I've pretty much convinced myself I need the Makita mower with twin 18v which legally opens the system up to me (man maths/man principle things). So last night I an epiphany of being able to buy a Makita track saw and table saw, two things I really need. Watch this space but that frown may get turned upside down.
