I was looking at getting one of the Fenix torches actually, but was swayed to the Petzl as my old one I bought in 2012 was Petzl. My uses are mainly winter climbing and early starts in the alps, so my criteria were lightweight and not too bulky, easy to use with cold hands and gloves and a decent run time. After seeing my mates was like a flood light compared to my old one I figured it was time to upgrade and relegate mine to backup duties.Head torch tech doesnt seem to have gone quite as mental as the hand held CREE (et al) torches, but I trialled many different models before deciding on the two I chose. Separate models for different uses, the LENSER I use for search and rescue, it has a seemingly pointless bluetooth controller that is actually invaluable, means I don't have to remove gloves to adjust beam patterns, red/map light etc.. and the Fenix I use for ambulance work, it's a great bit of kit and both are supremely bright with excellent battery life.
