What device do you attach to it that you want to make smart?

I am trying to justify it to get one but everything I have I want it on all the time rather than remote on/off.

I changed my front high camera from solar to the Tapo strip with a routine that turns it on at a certain time and then off, with the video doorbell being on the other.

Before then it was for a Playstation, Stadia and light strip behind the TV.

I guess the phone charger one would be good, I do unplug it when I leave for work in the morning and then put it back in at night.
Sorry this is baffling - you want to switch off your phone charger when not in use; so a smart plug that is always on and connected to WiFi is the answer?

Well, that's why I never got one...I don't know how something being in sleep mode is different to this being in use....

I just can't think of anything !
I use them for lamps without smart bulbs, and remotely power cycling my Sonos and appletv. I also use them for power consumption monitoring on my Tumble dryer, ac and home server (mainly to see if I've left them on/the cycle has finished).

I also use them for turning on a pc that refuses to work on wake-on-lan but seems to work when it turns off when it sees power.

Who'd you buy them from?

Just had a look myself and they look really good tbh. Up to 13a but they don't specify whether that's perfect strip or per socket. Very likely per socket but as I'd be plugging in an electric fire I'd need to be sure.

Does it say anything in the manual per chance?
You should know better! The plug at the start of the chain is known as a 13 amp plug regardless of fuse... I'd also be pretty wary of running a (big) heater off and extension.

Probably safest to use a smart plug single adapter and then single plug extension. Don't want anything else running off the same cable TBH.

I feel violated...tried a couple of cheap adaptor but doesn't work with the SuperDrive with the Mac mini....this does!

Those members of a delicate disposition (i.e., they faint at the sight of exposed wires..) should look away now.

This is an upgrade of the little USB microscope I use for electronic stuff. The larger 10" screen on the new one is a blessing for my old eyes :) Yes, I know the baseplate is backwards but it works better for me this way.

My old Adonstar with a 4" screen and tiny baseplate (which was really annoying as in this example shown the PCB kept falling off it...). It did offer a good image though and I got used to it, albeit I was developing a squint with the small display.

New 10" display next to the old one, and a bonus - it auto-focuses. That really helps and it works well. The pivoting arm allows a wide range of movement across the bench and height is fine adjusted on a rack & pinion.

I didn't like the way the supplied ring light fitted (it kept falling off) plus the brightness control was on the actual light adding more weight and causing shakes, so I used the one that was attached to the Adonstar with its remote brightness control.
