Very nice

Almost jealous actually. Didn't used to be a BMW fan but the newer models have grown on me.
Just not sure over the rwd after only ever driving fwd. - although I notice the x drive badge. Is that 4wd?
Bet the 3 litre shifts too?
RWD is very good, except for in snow/ice (without winter tyres on). This is indeed 4WD, but only when it needs to be.
The 4WD addition, alongside the 8-speed sports flappy paddle box allows this to really haul some ass. I believe it only has around 250BHP, but 500+Nm of torque. From memory, 0-60 is around 5.2-5.4secs.
It feels just as fast as the big petrol engines ?35i but with even more power on the overtakes. Currently returning 44MPG, which is pretty sweet considering it isn't anywhere near bedded in yet.
As with most BMW autos, it has a few 'modes'.
Sports+ = stays in the powerbands for longer (until beneficial to shift up/down); firms up steering; firms up accelerator pedal; (unsure if it does anything to suspension) and disables Traction control (to allow wheel spin - essentially stops the tricky electronics from underpowering the engine until you gain traction)
Sports = stays in powerbands for longer; Steering and accelerator firm up.
Comfort = general all-round runner
Eco Plus = slackens steering, accelerator response, de-tunes engine for maximum economy. It actually computes how many extra miles you have gained by running in that mode (running total). When you put the accelerator to the floor, it re-tunes briefly.
