Yep that's what I meant :) Thanks :)

Google depth of field,

some lenses can achieve shallower than others. You want a low as possible fstop like 1.4 or 1.8 etc cheapest lens for shallow depth of field is probably canon 50mm f1.8 it's 50 quid nice and cheap. Bare in mind it's 50mm so you need to get little bit of distance from objects.

If that is look you are after I mean.

It's the same or better than the L. Arguably sharper edge to edge and the Sigma can be fine tuned and firmware upgraded using the USB dock :)

Edit*
When shooting in Canada people were asking me more questions about the Sigma than any other lens. A couple of other camera enthusiasts mistook it for a Zeiss from a distance!

Yeah I know, it's just it seemed the transition was much more smoother. I've had a play with the in-camera settings. It was +2 sharpening although I'm not sure if this would only affect the JPEG and not the RAW. I'm assuming it would only affect the JPEG and I just answered my own question.

I shall buy myself a plastic fantastic but first I want to get myself a flash (YONGNUO YN-560 II)

Cut a strip of white/grey paper, tape it over or to the flash to diffuse it, cheap fix.

I'm after a frosted film canister in the MM as I don't really want to pay £10 for 50 but nobody seems to have one which I guess isn't a surprise :(

e; I'm pretty happy with the DoF, that was at f/5 at 110mm focal length (I like this lens :D) I do want to get a light tent as I do like the though of product photography just space is at a premium in this house :p

I think next year I'll invest heavily in photography as I come into a bit of cash, probably 2x strobe with soft boxes, light tent and proper seamless drop + new body + lenses.

e2; I just cringed doing the Maths... Think perhaps just one soft box for now with a flash and see if any moneys to be made in it.

Congratulations! Are these your first? They're the gift that keep on giving.... and taking. Babies are expensive, especially in pairs!

My purchase which I instigated a month ago but finally took ownership of yesterday. Not the baby, the bike :D It came about despite the baby!

Second and third lol. Well timed promotions help with the money! I got away with an XBox this month, a bike would cause a little bit of dischord with my wife!
