Ohh quite a good read, Still quite a lot of money though but looks like you get more. Don't know if the missus would understand the difference though, I think she likes the 'look' of the KA too much! - We shall see! :)

Thanks for the link though, sir!

I got an "Andrew James" mixer for less than £100. Whilst I'm not saying it's as good as a KitchenAid, for the money it's really good I think.

5L bowl, 6 speed and 1500w.

Cheers, Will check it out :)

Can someone enlighten me as to why these are so expensive?

Thats what i'm so stuck with...

Saying that though, whenever I buy tech goodies, I always get the "You spent £XXX on that little thing!?, WHY!?" ... So I guess we're just in the same boat!

my missus has been bugging me for one of these for about a year... but the £400+ price tag really puts me off... are there cheaper versions? or is it just, ''super badass KitchenAid'' or nothing!?

If that's what she really wants and you give her a cheaper alternative, she'll be pleased but at the same time a little disappointed.

Just save up for a bit longer.

Sandwich maker number 3 after the other 2 makes produced disappointing soggy toasties.

A new food mixer, the one we had must have been from the 70's

My Mum still has & uses the Kenwood one she got as a wedding gift in 1971, pretty impressive. Not sure if you bought one made now it would last the equivalent lifespan as things don't seem to last anymore.

Living with a baker, they're naff. Better with an equivalent Kenwood. They're just not as pretty.

My fitting kit for the apline ics-x7 arrived yesterday so I could properly fit it all nice and flush and working with the bose system too.

Excuse the contrast, it was dark.

It still asks me for a language every time I turn it on, so must be a memory wire somewhere I need to find. No doubt won't get it out the dash now.

24.5C  weirdo!

Digital cable prices are pretty lol. Looking on AV sites a 5 metre optical cable of good build quality is pretty intense for anything with a name brand. Supermarket own brand cables are much cheaper at under a tenner but they seem to be made of cheese. I did say it's only gonna be for a games console but I don't really want to buy cheese so...

... Looked on eBay and saw these for under £6 @ 5 metres. The stock photos don't really give you an idea of what they're like for material quality but in person they're rather excellent and I can see no difference in the machining and quality compared to a name brand cable.
