Very nice, how much did that set you back?

I'm on an old terrible office chair at home, literally falling apart, been meaning to upgrade.

I managed to pick it up on eBay for £188, significantly cheaper than the retail price on the DX Racer website. Ordered yesterday, arrived today via UPS. Very happy with it so far.

It's very different to my previous one in the sense it's not all cushiony, but that's good for me. My last one was a John Lewis Franklin chair that had a fixed back but after long periods of use it became excruciating on my back because my posture was awful.

Very nice, £200 is a bit steep though.

I know - but I am hoping it will last. The one I bought in December cost me £300 and frankly it was good for a few months but then wasn't worth anything. The foam in the seat lost its shape very quickly which was disappointing.

This one has a full metal frame, none of that dodgy screwing into what feels like wood on the underneath of it. The cushion is supported on straps rather than a solid surface.

This gives you a really good insight into how it's made.

Gosh I sound like I work for them now :p

You know Sale of Goods Act is on your side there? How long ago did you buy it? Last year? I would argue that's not good enough, that is not acceptable wear and tear.

The Sale of Goods Act 1979 doesn't say exactly how long goods should last. The general rule is that goods should last for a reasonable time and in reasonable condition. For example, a new car should last for several years in a reasonable condition but you may need to replace some of its parts over time.

If goods don't last as long as they should, they probably weren't of satisfactory quality when you bought them. For example, if the sole on a shoe comes away after a few weeks of normal wear, this suggests that it was never of satisfactory quality.

You may need an expert's opinion on how long a particular item can normally be expected to last.

I would not expect a £300 chair to last a year, return it to the seller.
