I suggested the v-Moda cable because I saw this review (it's on Youtube), on the Philips X1 and the guy actually got a Ohm meter out to test the cable the X1 came in, /mumbles a bunch of maths, and basically the Philips cable has a high resistance and he recommended the v-Moda cables as they have a very low resistance, any sonic benefits aside, they work and they are not expensive either.

It's like magnets?

I have a bunch of those in various sizes, someone send them to me from NZ years back, they don't do anything that I can tell.

HOWEVER, this is a big however, I notice some of the OEM power cables from normal everyday components have those actually "built" in, I've seen them, it's just a black plastic thing that looks like a kind of supressor at the end of the cable. These are not even hifi components, I think I've seen them in like £35 Logitech 2.1 speakers systems, and where companies makes no big claims on these things. So part of me wonder why they add it in if they don't do anything.

Those are RF chokes, not magnets. Similar weight but are solid ferrite cores generally.

Never known it to help in anything Ive done including low signal audio work but might be more to do with CE / FCC certification.

Been discussed plenty times already but Vmoda is just the most popular outside of the UK - That's about it really (good build quality etc as expected). Most cables like it, inc the Fisual and others on Amazon are low resistance (around 0.5ohms) so the benefits of each cable comes down to flexibility, size of the jack grips and length. IN that regard Fisual do the best range from 0.5m to 3m. Perfect for headphones and at a price that can't be scoffed at all the same :)... For UK peeps.

On the sound stuff:
I've had about 3-4 pairs of V-Moda ear buds over the years, and without fail they end losing sound in one ear due to a wiring/cable issue. They sounded great and were replaced every time under warranty. However, I just gave up in the end as it became frustrating.
