Already have speakers that won't ever need changing. Been through buying and trying that area couple of years ago.

But you can't give up this early, still could :-

make your own power cable.
try an external upgrade DAC.
dedicated headphone amp.
PSU for said headphone amp.
Then try Tube headphone amp.
Then source 1950's made rare tube to replace OEM tubes.

I haven't even gone into the voodoo about buying power cables lol or those power blocks or even try it with a UPS!

Lots to do in the next 3-5 years :D

I saw an advert page in a hifi magazine in the newsagent recently, they were trying to say that their kettle lead was somehow worth £120 (or whatever 3 figure it was I forgot exactly as my eyeballs did a 360 in their sockets and I felt dizzy) and that the signal from whatever amp they connect to would be so much cleaner that the sound would be transformed.

Nein!

I've actually sourced the kettle plug that some of them use, went and got the highest grade copper cable i can get, a really nice plug and wire one up myself.

Why? I was curious.

You know you could sell that on eBay as an audiphile power lead :D

And did it make any difference ?

It was just an experiment and at the end of the day I got a nice quality cable and learned how to wire up a kettle lead from scratch :)

A kettle lead isn't really that difficult to wire, there are only 3 wires and as long as you don't mix up your colours you're all good :p

I got the kettle plug online, i got the wall plug in B&Q, the cable is also from B&Q I recall, just a thick heavy gauge one.

As for where I got the kettle plug, I really can't remember now! It was so long ago.
